ARLINGTON, Texas. – Manny Pacquiao and promoter Bob Arum arrived Monday night here in time for a press conference on Tuesday formally announcing the March 13 fight against Joshua Clottey at Jerry Jones’ Cowboys Stadium.
A report carried by Phil-boxing.com said Clottey has also arrived and is staying at the same hotel where Pacquiao is billeted.
Jones’ Cowboys were knocked out of the NFL playoffs Sunday by Minnesota 34-3, so the Cowboys owner, co-promoter of the fight, has time on his hands to work on the fight.
After the Tuesday press conference, the group will leave for New York City for another media conference on Wednesday.
Pacquiao begins training at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood with Freddie Roach on Thursday.
Pacquiao has fought twice in Texas, winning both times. In November 2003, he stopped the heavily-favored Marco Antonio Barrera of Mexico in the 11th round. In April 2006, he stopped another Mexican, Jorge Solis, in the eighth round.
