Underdog Clottey ‘ready to shock world’

THE spanking Cowboys Stadium is all set to host the initial press conference for the year’s first big boxing bout pitting Filipino ring icon Manny Pacquiao against dangerous welterweight Joshua Clottey on March 13 in Arlington, Texas.

A report by the Examiner.com revealed that a 60-foot stage is being erected in the middle of the field of the Cowboys Stadium where the press conference will be staged on Jan. 18 (Jan. 19 in Manila).

Manny Pacquiao, the reigning WBO welterweight champion, left Manila last night for Los Angeles. He is expected to arrive there tomorrow before being whisked to Arlington.

Pacquiao is also set to sign the fight contract on arrival in Dallas. Clottey told Fan IQ News (Faniq.com) that he had already affixed his signature to the bout and assured that all the details will be ironed out soonest.

“I’m ready to shock the world,” Clottey said.

“You know me, I always come to do my job in the ring. I can handle southpaws well and I will beat Pacquiao.”

Pacquiao left the country bearing the good news of having been tested negative by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for performance-enhancing drugs, further boosting his libel suit against the camp of Floyd Mayweather Jr., who accused Pacquiao of using steroids.

The accusation keyed the downfall of the supposed megabout with Mayweather.
