Pacquiao-Clottey picked up by HBO PPV

The final nail in the coffin for any possible Floyd Mayweather Jr. fight on March 13 arrived earlier today when HBO announced on their boxing Facebook page that they'd picked up the Manny Pacquiao-Joshua Clottey fight. This indicates that Mayweather's next fight -- likely with Shane Mosley -- will be on May 1 or another date, but certainly not on March 13.

Pacquiao (50-3-2, 38 KO) will defend his WBO welterweight title against Clottey (35-3, 20 KO), who once briefly held the IBF welterweight belt. No word if the WBC "Diamond Championship" that Pacquiao won against Miguel Cotto will be on the line, but if the WBC can get their grubby hands on some of the money from this fight, I'm sure it'll happen.

No undercard has been officially announced yet, but two fights have been discussed. Former "Contender" star Alfonso Gomez would meet ex-lightweight champion Jose Luis Castillo, and Antonio Margarito would return to action at junior middleweight against 23-year-old Carson Jones (23-7-1, 15 KO).

The first official press conference for the fight was held today at Cowboys Stadium. Michael Buffer called it "the most amazing press conference I've seen in 28 years."
