Pacquiao arrives in LA

MANNY Pacquiao arrived to a hero’s welcome in Los Angeles Sunday, two days before he kicks off a two-city promotional tour for his World Boxing Organization welterweight title defense against Joshua Clottey on March 13 at the Dallas Cowboys stadium.
Pacquiao and Clottey will share center stage during a news conference on Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila) in Dallas to officially announce the fight dubbed the "The Event." They will proceed to the Madison Square Garden in New York the following day for another media conference.
Pacquiao, who wrested the crown from Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico last November, slept well during the flight and looked very relaxed when he stepped off the plane, Philboxing.com reported, quoting Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum.
"Manny will start training first thing on Thursday morning because this fight is not going to be easy," Arum said, adding trainer Freddie Roach and conditioning expert Alex Ariza "are going to work him (Pacquiao) hard."
Arum had earlier said he expects Clottey to give Pacquiao a hard fight but was convinced the Filipino boxing star’s speed "will be too much for Clottey," a native of Ghana.
Philboxing.com reported that traveling on the same flight with Pacquiao was Philippine bantamweight champion Eden Sonsona, a protégé of the late Rod Nazario.
