P4P king Pacquiao told to get serious for Clottey

Bob Arum has said there is no risk of Manny Pacquiao not taking March 13 opponent Joshua Clottey seriously (Pacquiao 2/9 draw 25/1 Clottey 3/1 fight prices).

Filipino icon Pacquiao, regarded by many as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, was expected to put his credentials on the line in a show-stopper against unbeaten American superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr on the same night.

A row over random drugs testing forced the fight to be shelved, although Arum, Pacquiao and his trainer, Freddie Roach, have intimated the bout will be resurrected in 2010.

Five-weight, five-time world champion Pacquiao (4/5 points win Pacquiao v Clottey-WBO Welterweight Title) will now take on Ghana's New York-based Clottey, who beat Zab Judah for the IBF welterweight title in August 2008, at Cowboys Stadium in Dallas.

The 32-year-old lost a split decision to Puerto Rico's Miguel Cotto last June and has a 35-3-0 record, with 20 wins by knockouts.

"He's a real strong, aggressive and hard punching African and he poses a real test for Manny," said Top Rank supremo Arum.
